Pulau Ketam (Crab Island)

旅游,是从一个地方,到另一个陌生的地方;认识它的文化,了解它的背景,捕捉它的神情,并留下自己的足迹与回忆。。。。。。

Pulau Ketam is a small island located off the coast of Klang. By train (KTM Komuter) it will take an hour and a half to Pelabuhan Kelang from KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur. Then follow by ferry which only a half hour ride away from the hustle and bustle of Port Klang.

Remember to check for the last ferry schedule to go out if you are having one day trip.

The "floating houses" that come to view as visitors approach the island is a sight to awe any city slickers.

All the boats are parked at Pulau Ketam Jetty

Pulau Ketam is the best opportunity for visitors to witness and experience the unique lifestyle of fishermen. Homestay facilities are readily available. This rustic fishing village attracts visitors with its unique stilt-village, where the wooden-board streets are just five-feet across.

Most people come to island for just one day, include me. There is only one hotel, and if you like, you can stay at the fish farm or at an homestay. The island is popular for its crab and other seafood. Let's come fishing here...

The traffic consists largely of pedestrians and bicycles. On the island are a clinic, schools, a bank, a church, a mosque, a police station and some pubs. The bicycles are easily to rent and cheap, therefore I went around the island by bicycle too...

The houses are all built on stilt above the mangrove swamps. Is it looks simple life here?

Notes: Seafood is a natural wonder of this isle, and Pulau Ketam is renowned for fresh crabs, prawns and fish. It is indeed a seafood gourmet's paradise! Just go to Pulau Ketam for its fresh crabs, prawns and fish. It is indeed a seafood gourmet's paradise!

We had a wonderful seafood lunch in the mainstreet of the island.
