Mt Bromo NP

由于当时air asia的免费机票,我就展开了由Surabaya到Bali Island的冒险之旅啰...

KL -> Surabaya -> Mt Bromo -> Bali -> KL

My expenses : ??? pls try to guess it before see the answer at the bottom ~~

Backpacking to Mt bromo is quite dangerous actually; worrying on the eruption (2 people were killled during an eruption of Bromo on 8th June 2004) and worrying about the criminal problem (heard that tourists can be killed easily). But luckily my trip was safe in 2006. 阿弥陀佛~~~

The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park covers some 800 square kilometers in the centre of East Java. It is the largest volcanic region in the province and there stands Mt. Semeru, which rises 3676 meters above sea level.

Temperatures at the top of mount Bromo range about 5 to 18 degrees Celcius. So please aware to bring some warm clothes ya.

Mt Bromo from the budget hostel view

You can stay at The Bromo Guest House which is located at Ngadisari that lies 3 km from the crater rim. Or you can choose other hotels at Cemoro Lawang because it this situated at the crater rim.

最差劲的住宿, 潮湿, 肮脏, 破旧。。。因为超便宜,~RM4 pp~ 结果, 还是睡了两晚呢!
the hostel I stayed in Bromo

A story about the local... 惊险记。。。
There is no any express bus to Bromo. We need to take a public bus follow by a mini-bus to Mt bromo. Luckily I manage to get the last service bus to mt bromo. The mini-bus is a kind of van with additional seats until carrying ~~ 25 persons, so packed until you can't imagine). We were charged for extra maybe bcz we were "weird" to the local. No choice, got to pay.

But, when we reached somewhere in the dark night (actually just 5-6pm) which seem like in a small town without any lights/cars passby and no more passengger in the bus, the driver and his staffs (3-4 ppl) suddenly stopped and many local peoples came to us and we were so scare bcz we did not know where are we and what are they going to do on us? And, worry around few mins, the driver asked us to get out of their bus bcz they don't want to send us to bromo there. Oh my god, how come they treat us like this? For money? I so worried and tried to bargain with them and offer them more money. Luckily they accepted it and sent us to the hostel at last.... wow~~ really scared me.

* If they are greedy and want all of our money, they can just kill us and throw at somewhere and nobody will know.I was so lucky... I really want to thank God (my buddha God of course)

Yummy yummy... my dinner in the hostel.

The volcano is noted for its spectacular sunrises, and majestic views across to Semeru volcano in the south.

Everyone is waiting for the Mt Bromo sunrise view in the early morning. Unfortunately, I can't see the sunrise cz raining and the sunrise was cover by the cloud.... so dissapointed

被发狂的小马摔了几下后还能勉强摆出可爱的甫士

I'm riding a horse or a donkey? haha, the local people will just do their business eventhough the horses there are still very small.... the horse was fall down @ somewhere due to unflat road when going up to the hill (maybe im too heavy?). At the moment I can't really think much and just hug the horse very tightly to avoid fall down from the horse. Smart? hehe... The horse owner quickly help to push the horse to stand up and but still hit the horse because the horse didn't follow his instruction ~ scared ya :'(

All the tourists parked their horses and start to climb to Mt Bromo

stepping up on the 249 steps to rim is worth to try. Enjoying the unique crater in crater, watching the dawn at Bromo is the main attractions in the area.

Within the caldera rise the deeply fissured volcanic cones of Batok and Bromo, the latter is still active with a cavernous crater from which smoke blows skyward.

Please bring along your face towel bcz the sulphur will make your breath difficult/cough when you are getting closer to the crater. My tears almost come out too...

At its northern end is the spectacular Tengger Caldera, Java's largest, with its 10 km barren desert-like sea of sand. Walking on the sea-sand is worth to try too.

an old man with his kid in the farm...

After 3 D2N in Bromo, I continue my journey to Bali Island....
